Virgin Media customer migration

24/02/09 | Posted in category : Internet Technology, Internet Trends, Media, News, Technology, Web

virgin385_164944aVirgin Media is to move customers on its 2Mbps connection to its 10Mbps service for free.

The migration of customers is due to start in May and claims to represent the largest-scale speed upgrade in the UK.

Virgin Media now offers broadband speeds of up to 10Mbps, 20Mbps and its recently launched 50Mbps (nma.co.uk 15 December 2008).

The company said the 10Mbps service will allow more people in a household to use high bandwidth services, such as BBC iPlayer and online games, at the same time.

“The migration of millions of 2Mbps customers to 10Mbps is only possible because of the power of our next generation network and is just one example of how we are creating exciting propositions for consumers which provide transformational experiences and go way beyond their expectations”,
